Cirrus clouds – these are the small wispy strands of clouds in the upper atmosphere. These clouds come in all different shapes and sizes, but most of the time they look like strands of a spider’s web or stray cotton floating in the wind.

At a meeting last Thursday, Fayette County Commissioners extended its COVID-19 disaster declaration for another 14 days.

On June 11, five teams of military testing experts came to Fayette County and conducted coronavirus testing at all of the Fayette County nursing homes. In total 679 citizens were tested. Of those, 311 were residents of the nursing homes and 368 were staff at the nursing homes. Fayette County Chief of Emergency Management Craig Moreau said. “we are awaiting the results of the testing and will share the results once they are available.”

All over the world, organizations are having to make decisions on trying to balance COVID-19 precautions, with the resumption of normal life.

At last Thursday’s Commissioners Court meeting, County Auditor Kathy Kleiber reported a bit of surprising good news about the recent economic effects of the COVID-19 crisis: year-to-date sales tax receipts are actually up compared to the same time period last year.

Schulenburg Police are looking for three men who unsuccessfully tried breaking into the Prosperity Bank ATM early Sunday morning, June 14.

Fayette County Auditor Kathy Kleiber will retire in October after 25 years of service to the County and 13 years at the helm of the auditor’s office.

The Round Top Sesquicentennial Committee, with endorsement of the Round Top Town Council, announced plans to host a 150th Anniversary Celebration, held in the town’s square on August 1. This all-day event kicks off at 10 a.m. and promises to honor the heritage and founding of Round Top with community spirit, historical presentations, live music, local food and family-friendly recreation.
