679 in Nursing Homes Tested; Free Testing June 17

On June 11, five teams of military testing experts came to Fayette County and conducted coronavirus testing at all of the Fayette County nursing homes. In total 679 citizens were tested. Of those, 311 were residents of the nursing homes and 368 were staff at the nursing homes. Fayette County Chief of Emergency Management Craig Moreau said. “we are awaiting the results of the testing and will share the results once they are available.”

Unexpected Positive Financial News for Fayette Co.

At last Thursday’s Commissioners Court meeting, County Auditor Kathy Kleiber reported a bit of surprising good news about the recent economic effects of the COVID-19 crisis: year-to-date sales tax receipts are actually up compared to the same time period last year.

Town of Round Top Planning 150th Anniversary Celebration

The Round Top Sesquicentennial Committee, with endorsement of the Round Top Town Council, announced plans to host a 150th Anniversary Celebration, held in the town’s square on August 1. This all-day event kicks off at 10 a.m. and promises to honor the heritage and founding of Round Top with community spirit, historical presentations, live music, local food and family-friendly recreation.
The Round Top town square (including this gazebo, shown above, from the annual 4th of July Activities) will be one of the epicenters of Round Top’s Sesquicentennial festivities Aug. 1.
