Emily Shaw of La Grange had corovavirus earlier this year but after recovering she made the decision to donate plasma, which can help other people trying to recover from the disease. “Just one donation can save four people’s lives,” Shaw said. “I don’t think enough people know the importance of giving plasma after having COVID.”

Flatonia Police Chief Lee Dick presented his activity report for the month of August to the Flatonia City Council on Tuesday. Dick reported that officers made 14 traffic stops and conducted two felony arrests last month.

Hallettsville Tribune-Herald Long-time Lavaca County resident, Doug Kubicek, has decided to toss his hat in the ring to run for County Judge. “I have considered running for a county office for some time,” Kubicek said.

The Karisch Clan participated in the Fayette County Fair Livestock Show on Sunday, Sept. 6. Rheagan had another good day in the ring, bringing home the Champion Intermediate Showmanship buckle. Not to be outdone, Rheagan’s father brought home the jackpot Adult Showmanship win. Additionally, the cattle did well. Diva brought home Reserve Champion American Heifer and Scarlett was Champion Exotic Heifer. Ree was a class winner and Isabella was second in class. Rilan also got to get some ring practice in by showing Isabella in Pee Wee Showmanship.

KJZT Family Life St. Anne Society No. 10 donated $1,000 to St. John Catholic Church. Due to many church fundraisers being canceled this year due to the COVID-19 crisis, KJZT Family Life is making donations to parishes across Texas to help with financial struggles, such as St. John’s. KJZT Family Life is a fraternal benefit society founded in 1894 by Czech Catholics. St Anne Society No. 10 began in 1902. Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation (ESWSC) issued a boil water notice Tuesday morning, Sept. 8. Carissa Karisch of ESWSC said the notice was related to the house explosion that occurred Tuesday morning in Ellinger.

Mary Kossa, daughter of Mike and Linda Kossa of Ammannsville, received her master degree in occupational therapy from UTMB Galveston in an online ceremony on Aug. 21. She was recognized with the Outstanding Graduate Award.
