Boil Water Notice Issued for Ellinger
Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation (ESWSC) issued a boil water notice Tuesday morning, Sept. 8. Carissa Karisch of ESWSC said the notice was related to the house explosion that occurred Tuesday morning in Ellinger.
“After the explosion, electricity went out and our pumps went down,” Karisch said. “Its standard protocol (to issue a boil water notice) when that happens to make sure there’s no bacteria in the water.”
Low pressure in water pipes can cause bacteria and other contamination to infiltrate the water system. The notice advised cus tomers to sterilize tap water by boiling and then cooling all water used for drinking, cooking or ice-making or to purchase bottled water for such purposes.
Karisch said ESWSC took water samples after power was restored and sent them off for testing.
“We’re hopeful to get the results back today or tomorrow and have everything cleared,” Karisch said Wednesday morning.
ESWSC will rescind the notice and notify customers once favorable results come back. Customers with questions about the boil water notice can call the ESWSC office at (979) 966-3276.
