This little owl was in the La Grange Walmart parking lot over the weekend, cold and wet with an injured wing. Members of the La Grange Police Department were able to get it in a pet carrier and called for an animal rescue volunteer who will be taking it to a bird rescue center in Austin.

The non-profit group Texas Dance Hall Preservation (TDHP) is raising awareness of many of the dance halls in the state that are not accounted for, and especially the ones that may need help after being damaged by Hurricane Harvey.

Someone burglarized the Shell Easy Stop convenience store on US 77 on the north side of La Grange Sunday night or early Monday morning, Nov. 22 or 23.

St. Rose of Lima Catholic School will once again be holding their Christmas Around the World celebration and fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 12. This year the event will not follow its traditional format given the growing concerns around COVID-19.

The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be in Fayetteville on Friday, Dec. 4, for its monthly food distribution from 10 to 11 a.m. This is a drive thru event held at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Recreation Hall. Clients are asked to please stay in their vehicles.

A pickup was stolen from R&B Truck and Auto sometime over the weekend. La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath said the pickup was a green and gray 2003 Ford F-250 King Ranch edition.

La Grange City Council granted final approval Monday night to the plat for the future La Grange Springs apartment complex. Developers plan to build four two-story buildings on the eight-acre property located at the intersection of US 77 and FM 2145.

Flatonia Mayor Bryan Milson (above) and council member Mark Eversole (below, left) and Allen Kocian (below, right) took their oaths of office at a meeting Tuesday, Nov. 17. Notary public Herminia Dale administered the oaths. Milson won re-election against challenger James Longmire in the Nov. 3 election. Eversole, an incumbent, and Kocian, a challenger, won the two open spots in a four-way, at-large election against incumbent Donna Cockrell and another challenger, Pamela Stolarski.
