Connie Lewis of Schulenburg led a group of friends and high school students on a Christmas caroling hay ride around Schulenburg on Tuesday, Dec. 22. The group visited College Place Assisted Living, Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center and Colonial Care Center in Schulenburg. Fayette County native Stacy Kruppa Wahle has been named the Rookie of the Year by her real estate peers in an award announced by the Houston Agent Magazine, which covers the real estate industry. Wahle graduated from La Grange High School in 1996, earned her Associate’s degree from Blinn Junior College in Brenham, and graduated in 2000 from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in business management.

On Dec. 14 the Fayette County Fair Association made their annual toy donation to the Deputy Santa Program. Representatives from the Fair Association met with representatives from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department to make the donation. A Peterbilt truck hauling a load of dry cement rolled over and came apart on SH 71 west of Ellinger Monday morning. The wreck happened at 9:17 a.m., according to a report from Trooper Louis “L.A.” Gabler of the Texas Highway Patrol.

A work crew from the Verdin Clock Company of Ohio came to La Grange Monday to upgrade the mechanism that controls the clock on the Fayette County Courthouse. The clocksmiths worked from a bucket hoisted by a crane from Ray’s Crane Service of La Grange.

La Grange Chief of Police David Gilbreath reports that on Friday, December 18, 2020, at 10:30 p.m. an assault occurred in the 400 block of West La Fayette Street in La Grange.

There have been 215 people in Fayette County that have been vaccinated for COVID-19 so far, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. In all of those cases, those residents have received just the first of two required shots to be fully vaccinated.
