La Grange Woman Attacked At Kruschel Park at Night

La Grange Chief of Police David Gilbreath reports that on Friday, December 18, 2020, at 10:30 p.m. an assault occurred in the 400 block of West La Fayette Street in La Grange.

The victim of the assault, a La Grange woman, had pulled into a parking space on the North side of Kruschel Park and was attempting to make a telephone call on her cell phone when an unknown male assailant suddenly opened her driver door and immediately struck the victim on the left side of her face with his fist. The assailant then attempted to forcibly remove her from her vehicle. The victim said she immediately placed her vehicle in reverse and she started backing the vehicle up and this caused the assailant to let go of her arm and forced him away from her vehicle. The victim was then able to drive away from the assailant to safety.

The victim was fortunate enough to escape from the assailant with only scratches, a black eye, and bruises. Chief Gilbreath said the motive for the attack is unknown at this time.

Chief Gilbreath wants to remind everyone to be conscious of their surroundings at all times.
