AMEN Food Pantry Serves 965 People In Month of Dec.

The pantry served 965 individuals for the month of December. There were 26 new clients for the month. The donations and the monetary donations given by the community have allowed the pantry to purchase products not available from the food bank. Along with the food products provided the clients are given a food voucher to HEB that can be used for food purchase. These vouchers are charged to Amen and paid monthly.

Veitch Graduates From Nursing School

Adriana Veitch of West Point was among the Fall 2020 graduates of Victoria College’s Vocational Nursing Program honored at a Pinning Ceremony on Dec. 18 at VC’s Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts.Veitch attended Victoria College’s Gonzales Center in Gonzales. Victoria College’s Vocational Nursing Program is a 12-month certificate program offered on VC’s Main Campus and in Cuero, Gonzales and Hallettsville. The program is fully approved by the Texas Board of Nursing. Successful completion of the program enables students to take the National Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). Satisfactory achievement on the exam qualifies students for licensure as a vocational nurse. Fayette Co. Spring Coyote Control Contest Underway

The Fayette County Spring Coyote Control Program began on Jan. 4 and ends April 30, 2021. The contest is being held to give landowners, producers, and sportsmen an opportunity to assist in the control of coyotes in Fayette County. Coyotes cause predation on livestock and result in economic losses to agricultural producers in the county.

Fayette, Lee Co. Livestock Producers Reminded To Report Grazing Losses

Fayette/Lee County U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) Executive Director Levi F. Garlick reminds livestock producers who suffered grazing losses that occurred throughout 2020 due to drought to report their losses timely and to enroll in the Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP) by Feb. 1, 2021.

Underground Railroad Zoom Lecture Jan. 12

The Briscoe Center for American History at Winedale and the Round Top Family Library FYI invite you to join a virtual Zoom lecture Tuesday, Jan. 12 at noon: “The Underground Railroad Through Texas and Into Mexico” presented by Roseann Bacha-Garza of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She will discuss the pathways of the Underground Railroad and where they led to.
