La Grange city government will undergo a couple of big changes following the May 1 election. As announced last week, Mayor Janet Moerbe will step down after 33 years in city government. This Monday, Ward 1 Councilman Ken Taylor said he will also step down from the Council after serving two terms.

La Grange Police are investigating an especially ugly case of graffiti that appears related to teenage bullying. Police Chief David Gilbreath said someone “tagged” the old La Grange Plastics Plant on Colorado Street with some vulgar language over the weekend of Jan.

The City of La Grange recently purchased a new street sweeper. The machine stands a little taller than the City’s old one, so the City hired some contractors to trim trees that hang over the roadways.

The City of La Grange general services committee recently completed a review of the City Charter and recommended several changes. Voters will consider those changes in the May 1 City election.

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative’s offices will be closed Monday, Feb. 15, in observance of Presidents’ Day. Bluebonnet members can access their account information and make payments while the offices are closed through the co-op’s website at bluebonnet.coop.

A parking lot service led by Rev. Mike Groseclose will be held at the Fayetteville Brethren Church, located at 1022 Kramr Rd., on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 11 a.m. You’re asked to remain in your car. In-person services will not be held until further notice. Fayetteville Brethren has services the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. The Lighted Cross will be put up the week of Ash Wednesday outside the fellowship hall. The cross will help remind those who pass by of the Lenten season and how blessed we are, for He died that we might be forgiven.

The staff at St. Mark’s Wound Center are celebrating American Heart Month by educating their community about good cardiovascular care and tips to keep hearts healthy yearround.
