LGPD Responds to Possible Fraud at Auction
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following activities his department responded to during the week of Jan. 31 through Feb. 7.
Fraud
On Feb. 1, Investigator Troy Stevens responded to the 100 block of W. Travis where complainant advised a vehicle was purchased through an auction and sold. The vehicle was found to have an unknown lein. Complainant believes he received an altered title when he purchased the vehicle at the auction.
Agency Assist
On Jan. 31, Patrolman Brett Meinardus responded to One St. Mark’s Place where caller had advised that a subject entered the hospital stating that his brother had assaulted him but did not know where the assault occurred. Officer spoke to the subject and found the assault happened in Lee County. Officer notified Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Alarm
On Jan. 31, Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 2000 block of W. State Highway 71 Business for an alarm. Officer arrived on location and found the building to be secure.
On Feb. 1, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr responded to an alarm call in the 600 block of N. Madison. Officer spoke with the owner and found the building was secure.
On Feb. 3, Wostarek was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Travis for an alarm. Officer arrived on location and found the building to be secure.
Accident
On Jan. 31, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell was dispatched to the 200 block of N. Horton in regard to a one-vehicle accident. The driver of the vehicle was issued a citation and the passenger was arrested and transported to jail.
On Jan. 31, Wostarek was dispatched to the 100 block of W State Highway 71 Bypass for an accident.
On Feb. 5, Patrolman David Mohr received a call of a twovehicle accident in the 2100 block of W. State Highway 71 Business.
Animal Complaint
On Feb. 6, Mohr received a call of a bull out on the road in the area of Old Plum highway and Highway 71 business. Officer arrived and put the bull back in the pasture.
On Feb. 6, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched to One St. Mark’s Place for loose dogs. Officer had one dog in his unit and complainant had found where the dog lived. The dog was taken home.
Civil Matter
On Jan. 31, Patrolman Justin Koehne spoke with a caller in the 500 block of S. Meyer about a civil matter.
On Feb. 5, Meinardus responded to the 400 block of N. Vail where caller stated that a subject was having a disturbance with her boyfriend. Officer upon arrival spoke to both subjects. Female subject stated that she wanted to leave and wanted an officer present while she gathered her things and left the location. Neither subject made no complaint of physical violence and there was no indication violence had occurred.
Disorderly Conduct
On Feb. 6, Currington was dispatched to the 900 block of S. Jefferson for a possible disturbance. A father and son were arguing and it was verbal only. Both parties agreed to separate and not speak to each other for the rest of the night.
Juvenile Complaint
On Jan. 31, Wostarek was dispatched to the 300 block of E. Vine in regard to a juvenile complaint.
Open Door Business
On Feb. 2, Sgt. Travis Anderson while conducting a business check in the 1700 block of W. State Highway 71 Business located an open door at the rear of the location. Officer along with back up units checked the business and it appeared the door had just been left unlocked. With no sign of forced entry the officer notified the key holder and he came down and secured the door.
Reckless Driving
On Feb. 5, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr responded to a call of racing in the 300 block of S. Washington. Subjects were gone upon officers arrival.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On Jan. 31, Maxwell was dispatched to the 800 block of E. Travis in regard to a suspicious subject. Caller stated the subject was wearing all black and had been there for an extended amount of time. Officer was unable to locate a person matching the description the caller gave.
On Feb. 3, Meinardus spoke to a subject at the police station who wanted to report several strange occurrences that were happening around her residence.
On Feb. 5, Maxwell was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Travis in regard to a suspicious vehicle.
Theft
On Feb. 1, Zwahr took a theft report in the 400 block of E. Travis.
On Feb. 4, Wostarek was dispatched to the 300 block of W. Travis in regard to theft. Officer arrived on location and took information.
On Feb. 6, Anderson responded to the 100 block of N. Washington in regard to a theft at the location.
Trespassing
On Jan. 31, Maxwell while on routine patrol in the 200 block of N. Washington observed subjects trespassing at the location. Officer had subjects contact someone to come pick them up.
Welfare Check
On Feb. 2, Zwahr checked on the welfare of two subjects in the 1500 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Subjects stated they were fine and traveling out of town.
On Feb. 3, Wostarek was dispatched to the 100 block of S. Lester in regard to a welfare check. Officer arrived on location and spoke with a male subject. Subject stated that he was fine and was trying to take a nap.
On Feb. 3, Meinardus was dispatched to the 100 block of Reed Street to check on the welfare of an individual that was not feeling well. Officer spoke to the subject who advised he was fine and turned his phone off to get some peace.
On Feb. 6, Mohr was dispatched to the 500 block of N. Jackson for a welfare concern. Officer arrived and found a subject was resting while walking home.
Miscellaneous
On Jan. 31, Patrolman Justin Koehne spoke with complainant in the 1500 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to a narcotics complaint.
On Feb. 2, Currington was dispatched to the 800 block of E. Guadalupe for a possible gas leak. Officer arrived and could not detect a gas leak.
On Feb. 3, Mohr initiated a traffic stop in the 500 block of E. Travis and made a marijuana arrest.
On Feb. 3, Maxwell was dispatched to the 200 block of W. Colorado in regard to a suicidal subject. The subject was transported to a facility in Georgetown.
On Feb. 6, Mohr received a call of a vehicle that was broken down and was a traffic hazard in the Highway 71 E. ramp at Highway 71 Business.
On Feb. 6, Currington was dispatched to the 1000 block of S. College for a bonfire. Subject was burning and had a permit for a controlled burn, the burn was being conducted in a safe manner.
