Domino Tourney The annual Knights of Columbus Domino Tournament in La Grange that is usually scheduled the last Sunday in February has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. CDA Dinner Change CDA of Hostyn drive-thru chicken fried steak meal has been postponed from Feb 16 to Tues, Feb 23.

Temperatures plunged into once-in-a-generation lows (the low teens) Sunday and Monday and Fayette County was blanketed by ice. The combination of long-lasting cold temperatures and precipitation made for very dangerous conditions on locals roads. First responders pleaded with the public to avoid an unnecessary travel, but even so numerous wrecks occurred on overpasses and bridges.

Coronavirus Could Be Here to Stay

Fayette County Emergency Management Chief Craig Moreau told Commissioners last Thursday that the coronavirus may be here to stay. “We’re moving to the point worldwide where clearly this is going to be endemic versus an ongoing pandemic,” Moreau said.

County To Close Offices on Tuesday, Recommends Businesses to Do the Same

Government offices will be closed Tuesday, Feb. 16, due to the winter storm affecting the area and county leaders are encouraging non-essential businesses to do the same.  Local officials continue to monitor the wintry conditions impacting Fayette and surrounding counties and are urging people to stay off the road if possible.
