LCRA Considers a New Lake in Colorado County

The Lower Colorado River Authority on Wednesday announced plans to explore building another reservoir to increase water supplies for the fast-growing region. During a meeting of the LCRA Board of Directors, LCRA General Manager Phil Wilson announced that LCRA is quickly moving forward with a feasibility study to determine if property LCRA owns northwest of Eagle Lake in Colorado County would be suitable for a large new water supply reservoir.

The deadline for candidates to file for a place on the ballot in municipal and school board elections was last Friday, Feb. 13. There will be a few contested races around the County. Election day is May 2. Incumbents are indicated by (i).

Austin Pursuit Ends When Vehicle Flips in Fayette Co.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that Tuesday a pursuit of a vehicle stolen out of Austin entered Fayette County from Bastrop County on Highway 71. Fayette County investigators and patrol deputies responded to assist with the pursuit. Personnel deployed Stop Stick tire deflation devices in the area of Plum on Highway 71 and successfully deflated tires on the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle proceeded on Highway 71 a short distance before losing control and crashing, stopping in the median. The driver was taken into custody by Bastrop County.

County Considers Opposing AI Data Centers

The Fayette County Commissioners Court considered a resolution opposing data centers in Fayette County, at their meeting last Thursday. They didn’t vote on it, but after much discussion, they agreed to take it up again at a future meeting.
