Texas One Stop Receives Grant

The City of La Grange Community Development is proud to announce that Texas One Stop located at 1704 E. State Highway 71 Bypass is a recent recipient of a Security Enhancement Grant. This grant program is a partnership with the La Grange Police Department and helps offset the costs of installing a new camera system or upgrading an existing one for local businesses and organizations within La Grange city limits. La Grange Man Arrested on Warrant Charge And Unlawful Possession

Deputies McCleney and Meagher responded to a residence outside of La Grange in reference to a burglary. While on scene, deputies observed a male subject that was not involved with the original call on the property. Deputies were familiar with the subject and knew that he had a first degree felony warrant out of Fayette County. Deputies McCleney and Meagher approached the subject and were able to place him into custody without incident. A search of the subject, incidental to arrest, resulted in methamphetamine being located on the subject. The subject, identified as Anthony Strambler, 34 of La Grange, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm (habitual offender) and possession of a controlled substance.

LHS Students Inducted Into Math Honor Society

Twenty-five students from La Grange High School were recently inducted into the Blinn College chapter of the Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society. Mu Alpha Theta is a National High School and Junior College mathematics club for honor students that is co-sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Mathematical Association of America. Joplin Takes More Hogs in Muldoon

Local hog hunter Chris Joplin is back on the hunt taking ten more hogs before the big storm hit. Any hogs taken are good for those who have pastures. The hogs have been tearing up the fields recently. There have been a few hogs getting hit on the roads along with a few deer.

Shiner KJZT Donates to Raphael’s Refuge

The KJZT No. 5 of Shiner recently made a donation to Raphael’s Refuge for the Monument to the Innocents near Flatonia. The mission of the Refuge is to build and maintain this memorial in honor of babies who have died due to miscarriage, abortion, stillbirth, or infant death, as well as offering peer counseling to those suffering the loss of a baby. The monument is open to the public and visitors are welcome April-September, 8:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. KJZT member, Pat Brown is pictured making the donation to director and founder Midge Elam (right).
