Joplin Takes More Hogs in Muldoon

Local hog hunter Chris Joplin is back on the hunt taking ten more hogs before the big storm hit. Any hogs taken are good for those who have pastures. The hogs have been tearing up the fields recently. There have been a few hogs getting hit on the roads along with a few deer.

Rain

Muldoon experienced some very strong thunderstorms this past week. The weather moved in with lots of thunder and lighting. Then the strong rain with over four and a half inches was dumped in the area in less than two hours. Some spots saw more rain, but everyone got lots of rain with a few getting over five inches.

The large hard rainfall not only filled the tanks for the cattle it also over flowed the roadways. Water overflowed numerous roads not only the county roads, but also the area farm to market roads too. The rain came so hard and fast it had nowhere to go and flowed everywhere. There was a lighting show too with lots of strikes hitting the ground. It was quite a show going on.

There was some damage in the area. High water washed out a lot of fence and roadways were also damaged in the heavy downpour. A few trees took storm damage from either the wind or the lighting. Meanwhile the gardens that were planted enjoyed the rain, but were almost washed out with the amount of water that fell at one time.

Out And About

Devon Boehnke and Dana and Darrell Kulak enjoyed having Erica Field come in to visit for a few days from Magnolia.

Debra and John Schwartzenburg have enjoyed lots of company recently. Their daughter and son in law, Michelle and Tommy Mitchell came in from New Haven, Connecticut with their daughter Adeline. This was Adeline’s first time to come see Grandma and Papa John. On Sunday afternoon the Schwartzenburgs celebrated John’s brother Irving’s birthday. Joining in on the celebration was Irving’s wife Kayleen, Julia Speed and Andrea Russell, all of Houston. They enjoyed birthday cake and catching up.

Anne Marie Cherry is in from Columbus, Georgia to visit her parents Martin and Nancy Cherry. Nancy and Anne Marie took off Tuesday for Wimberly to check on some family and had to rush to out run the storm.
