Veterans Chapter Recognizes Judge Weber
On May 26 the officers of the VVA Chapter 870 presented Judge Joe Weber an award for being the Legislator of the Year for 2019/2020. Judge Weber has dedicated his time to not only serving the county but also the veterans. He has worked with the VA to maintain the stand-alone clinic in La Grange. This Outreach Clinic is connected to St. Mark’s to serve the veterans in Fayette County and adjacent counties. Local veterans appreciate the continual presence of a local clinic to serve their needs. Walmart Pickup Ribbon Cutting Held
The La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting at Walmart. Pictured are board chair, Mindy Davis, Walmart employees: Michael Burton, coach; Karen Patridge, coach; Kevin Ickles, store manager; Tammy Langston, coach; Caroline Beck, assistant manager; and Kwainessia Palmer, coach; Deokie Ramjohn and Sherry Pfluger of the La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce board. Not pictured were also numerous employees, supporters, the construction crew, other Walmart store managers and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office including Sheriff Keith Korenek. La Grange Walmart #846 held a wonderful ceremony complete with the praise of their team and co-workers, The Pledge of Allegiance, the National Anthem (sung by their very own employee, Karen Patridge), with even a blessing from Pastor Kolbe Hill. The launch of the online grocery was months in the making as they remodeled the store to create a successful launch. Store Manager Kevin Ickles was very excited to reach this point of online grocery for the community.
Interact Donates to Presley’s Power
The La Grange High School Interact Club presented a $1,500 donation to Presley’s Power. Interact is a service organization for high schoolers that is sponsored by the Rotary Club of La Grange. Members operate under the motto of “service above self” and membership is open to all high-schoolers. Presley’s Power provides comfort items for hospitalized pediatric cancer patients and their families.
