St. James Episcopal Pre-School had its Graduation and Moving Up Ceremony at the end of May. Seven children graduated from the Pre-K program, with several more moving up to the next class. St. James Pre-School is now enrolling for the fall of the 2021-22 school year with full and half-day programs available.

For just the second time in its recent memory, The Fayette County Record has been crowned the top semi-weekly newspaper in the state. At the Texas Press Association’s 2021 Better Newspaper Awards ceremony Saturday in Denton, The Fayette County Record was named the state’s top large semi-weekly newspaper, winning the Sweepstakes Award, for placing higher in more categories than any other similar publication.

Summer Lunch La Grange ISD will serve good nutritious meals during the summer for local children 18 years and under. Summer curbside breakfast and lunch meals may be picked up on Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m.

Fedor Malykhin, a 29-yearold violinist from Russia, arrived at the Round Top Festival Institute last week to take part in the Institute’s six-week educational program and concert series. Following an extensive musical education in Russia, he applied and was accepted into the performance program at Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts.

The annual MS-150 bikeathon that usually goes through La Grange was cancelled because of bad weather earlier this year. But last week, a group of cyclists rolled through La Grange who made the 150-mile course of the MS-150 look like a mere warm-up.

Regional groundwater officials are about to update a long-term groundwater plan. Representatives from two nonprofit groups working to protect groundwater resources spoke at a meeting of the Fayette County Groundwater Conservation District (FCGCD) on Monday, June 7 to oppose the plans.
