Summer Lunch
La Grange ISD will serve good nutritious meals during the summer for local children 18 years and under. Summer curbside breakfast and lunch meals may be picked up on Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. beginning June 8 and ending July 30 at the bus drop off on 192 S. Vail St.
VFW Post Meeting
The VFW Post 5254 in La Grange will have a meeting Tuesday, June 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the post home. There will be a meal.
Veterans Meeting
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on Wednesday, June 16 at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
Support Group
For anyone struggling with the Parkinson’s disease movement disorder, a Parkinson’s support group has reactivated in La Grange the third Thursday of every month for patients and caregivers. The meetings begin at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 E. Pearl Street. For more information, call (832) 561-1447.
Bluebonnet Opry In Brenham
Friends of the Bluebonnet Opry at the Silver Wings Ballroom, located at 4100 Highway 105 in Brenham, will have their annual Polka Show on Thursday, June 17. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 with door prizes and the grill will be open. The show will feature Brian Marshall, Al Sulak and Greg Machac. FCRW Monthly Meeting
The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, June 17 at JW’s Steakhouse located at 122 S. Hauptstrasse St. in Carmine. Social time starts at 6 p.m. with the business meeting at 6:30 p.m. The featured speaker will be retired Army Colonel Phil Waldron of Allied Cybersecurity & Analysis, a cyber and political warfare specialist who has researched election results of third world countries over the last 30 years, sharing his work in cybersecurity and election integrity. Food Bank Truck
The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the Junction of FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Friday, June 18 from 10 until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers. Health safety guidelines will continue, requiring clients and volunteers to wear face masks and to social distance.
Ellinger SPJST Meeting
Ellinger SPJST Lodge No. 51 will be meeting on Friday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.
Saint Michael’s Annual Picnic June 19
Saint Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester will hold its Annual Picnic at the park in downtown Winchester on Saturday, June 19. Seating and activities will take place outside and also in the airconditioned pavilion. Beginning at 3 p.m., enjoy the beer and soda stand. Washer tournament registration also opens at 3 p.m. with the tournament beginning at 4 p.m. A barbecue meal consisting of pork or chicken, potato salad, noodles, beans, bread and iced tea and dessert for $12 will served from 5 to 6:30 p.m. To-go plates will also be available. Remaining barbecue will be sold by the pound at 6:30 p.m. A live auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a bounce house for the kids. A portion of the picnic proceeds are dedicated to Congregational Tuition Assistance for Lutheran Schools.
Ellinger Hermann Sons Life
The Ellinger Hermann Sons Life Lodge will meet on Monday, June 21 at the Ellinger Fire Station at 6 p.m.
Blood Drive Location Change
The location for the La Grange Community Blood Drive to be held on Wednesday, June 23 has been changed from the La Grange Knights of Columbus Hall to the First United Methodist Church - Fellowship Hall located at 1215 N. Von Minden St.
