The remnants of Hurricane Harvey recovery are going help fund the first new home in the Camp Street Cottages development. Habitat for Humanity last week announced the project, which will create a community of ten small homes on a tract near Randolph Recreation Center.

Folks looking one of those famous chicken noodle soup dinners in Ellinger will have an easier time finding the way. Residents of Ellinger voted to incorporate their small community last year. Texas Department of Transportation recently made it look official by erecting three new city limit signs at the edges of town. La Grange City Council voted to approve a new graphic design for the water tower on North Jefferson Street. The design features letters five feet tall spelling ‘La Grange’ on one side and the LG logo with the State of Texas on the other side. The work will be done in conjunction with repainting of the water tower. La Grange City Manager said the work would be complete by January or February of 2022.

Fayette County Commissioners approved a $26.8 million budget for the next fiscal year. That amounts to a 6.6 percent increase in spending over the current budget. Commissioners also voted to keep the property tax rate of $0.464 per $100 valuation.

Statewide, stories of hospital overcrowding have emerged in the wake of the recent COVID resurgence. Fayette County has not been immune.
