La Grange Band Marches Through Pandemic Obstacles, On to Area Competition

Amidst the most challenging conditions imaginable, the La Grange High School band has marched its way to remarkable success this year. After earning superior ratings at the UIL regional contest two weeks ago in Giddings, the Leps will march Saturday at Hays Consolidated in Kyle at the 4A area contest, with their Pandora’s Box-themed show.

The grounds of Kreische Brewery and Monument Hill State Historic Sites will be transformed with beautiful holiday lights during the evenings in December. This year, the popular holiday tradition has been expanded from five nights to 14 nights allowing plenty of opportunities for a safe and socially distant experience.

COVID Vaccines Could Be Available Here Late 2020

Coronavirus vaccines could be available in Fayette County as early as the end of this year, according to Fayette County Emergency Management Chief Craig Moreau. “Currently we have four providers in the County that are pre-approved to distribute the vaccines,” Moreau said.

St. Rose Students Donate to Food Pantry

At the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Thanksgiving Mass held on Thursday, Nov. 19, the St. Rose school family donated 13 complete Thanksgiving meal baskets to the Family Crisis Center, 287 lbs. of canned goods, and $62 cash to the Schulenburg Area Food Pantry.

Fayette County Appraisal District Limiting In-Person Tax Collections During Pandemic

During the months of December and January, the Appraisal District experiences an increase in person to person contact with people coming in to pay property taxes. In an effort to remain open to the public during the ongoing pandemic, the Fayette County Appraisal District is highly recommending taxpayers to please use the drop box, mail, or make your property tax payments online. If you use the drop box or mail and would like a tax receipt, please specifically make that request and one will be mailed to you.

Lavaca Couple Wins Outstanding Young Farmer And Rancher Contest

An idea hatched from practicality has grown into a fullydeveloped business venture and created statewide recognition for Matt and Jessica Hanslik of Lavaca County. The couple was named the winner of Texas Farm Bureau’s (TFB) 2020 Outstanding Young Farmer & Rancher (YF&R) competition during the organization’s 87th Annual Meeting virtual opening session.

Fayetteville Planning Country Christmas Dec. 12

The town of Fayetteville will be hosting Country Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 12, starting at 10 a.m. with shops opening for business. A lighted parade will begin at 6 p.m., traveling around the square.
