Carmine Night Out

Carmine Night Out will be held Thursday Oct. 1, at 6 p.m. at the Carmine Volunteer Fire Department. The American Legion Post 338 will perform a flag retirement ceremony followed by brief speeches from local officials. Flags are collected year round at the Carmine Museum and Visitor Center, the Village Market, and the Carmine Post Office. Hot dogs, refreshments, and door prizes are provided by Carmine Lions, Carmine VFD, and Carmine Chamber. The event is free and open to the public.

Turkey & Dressing

The La Grange Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 annual Turkey and Dressing Supper will be held Thursday, Oct. 1 at the KC Community Center located at 190 Brown St. in La Grange. The turkey and homemade dressing supper will also include noodles, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce and a roll. Plates are $15 each. The drive-thru only meal will be available from 4-6 p.m. or until sold out. Enter the drive thru on Water St. to Milam and exit on Brown St. Call (979) 9685117 in advance for orders over 10 plates.

American Legion Quade Werchan

The next meetings of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post #338 and Ladies Auxiliary will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, in conjunction with Carmine Chamber of Commerce Night Out. The post will be responsible for conducting the Flag Retirement Ceremony at the start of the event. Attendance will be taken by the Post Adjutant. The following month, the meetings for the post and auxiliary will take place on Thursday, Nov. 5 at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Hwy. 237 in Round Top, beginning at 6:30 p.m. All veterans in the Round Top-Carmine, Winedale, Warrenton, Ledbetter, Waldeck, and Rutersville area are encouraged to join Post #338 and share in fellowship with others who have served our nation.

Adult Technology Training

Join for Adult Technology Training at the Fayette County Library in La Grange on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. - noon. All computer questions are welcome. No one is born knowing this stuff. If your computer is giving you problems, bring it along. 6 seats are available. Registration is required. Call (979) 968-3765 to sign up.

Liberty Tree Pick-up

Gates open at 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, for pickup of America 250 Liberty Trees. Those who applied for a Liberty Tree should go to the County Recycle Center, 210 Svoboda Lane in La Grange and volunteers will help load your tree and supplies. Vans or pickups will work best. Please follow the signs. The gate will close at 4 p.m.

Church Fundraiser

The Bethlehem AME Church will have a meal fundraiser of beef stew or chili with cornbread with a drink and dessert on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at 751 E. Pearl Street in La Grange. Beekeepers Association Meeting

The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will hold its next meeting on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange (255 Svoboda Ln). The evening begins with Beekeeping 101 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. a session ideal for beginners or anyone interested in getting started with honey bees. At 5:30 p.m., members and guests will enjoy a potluck dinner; please bring a favorite entrée, side, or dessert to share. Following dinner, the club will conduct its regular business meeting before welcoming this month’s guest speaker, Lynne Jones, owner of Brazos River Honey in Frydek, Texas. Lynne will discuss Texas honey labeling requirements, helping beekeepers navigate the laws and regulations surrounding the labeling and sale of honey in Texas. With the upcoming legislative session, she will also discuss any proposed changes she is aware of that may affect Texas beekeepers and the honey industry. Annual membership is $25 per individual or family, and guests are always welcome. FaycoBeeks meet on the first Saturday of each month (except July). Army National Guard Reunion

All members from the 1960s, 70s and 80s of the Columbus Texas Army National Guard are invited to a reunion Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 11:30 a.m. at Schoebels Restaurant in Columbus. Any questions, call George Hranicky (979) 250-3254.

Homecoming Parade

The La Grange All Sports Booster Club presents the first ever homecoming parade, Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. Show spirit and help celebrate our students with 30 plus floats. The parade route will be at the north end of Vail and continue down to Leopard Stadium for the community pep rally.

Faison House October Hours

Due to road construction, the Historic Faison House, located at 822 S. Jefferson St. in La Grange, will be closed on Saturdays throughout October.

Hermann Sons October Meeting Hermann Sons Rutersville will hold their October membership meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 7, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Rutersville Lodge. The main meal will be chicken, rice, and vegetables. Please bring other favorite side dishes or your favorite dessert to share.

Pink Out Saturday

Join for a community walk, memory wall and luminary tribute on Saturday, Oct. 10 beginning at 9 a.m. The community walk will begin at the La Grange High School Library to the Fayette Public Library, 855 S. Jefferson. The program begins at 10 a.m, this event is dedicated to the memory of Beth McKenzie. Luminaries are available for purchase to honor and remember loved ones.
