    Young Artists, Faculty and Orchestra to Perform June 20 at Festival Hill

Round Top Festival Institute invites the public to an exciting full day of performances on June 20 at the Festival Hill Concert Hall, showcasing talented young artists, distinguished faculty, and the acclaimed Texas Festival Orchestra.

The day begins at 1:30 p.m. with a Chamber Music Concert, followed at 3:30 p.m. by the Texas Festival String Orchestra performing works by Purcell, Vaughan Williams, Adès, and Elgar, led by Festival Hill Program Director Iverson Eliopoulos and featuring acclaimed guest artists.

The music continues at 7:30 p.m. with a full Orchestra Concert led by conductor Perry So and pianist Viktor Valkov, featuring powerful masterworks by Wagner, Ravel, and Tchaikovsky.

Round Top Lion’s Club 

The Round Top Lions Club met with the Carmine Lions Club on June 9 at Windmill Ranch Lodge in Carmine. A meal catered by Royer’s in Round Top was coordinated by the Carmine Lions Club.

The goal of the evening was to induct officers of both clubs. Kelli Higgins, District Governor for District 2-S5 did the induction. She explained what each office requirements were and recognized officers of each club filling those positions. Kelli also encouraged each officer to find new members to join each club.

The officers for the Round Top Lions are as follows: President-Suzanne Ellis; Vice-President-Pam Langford; Treasurer-Ed Ellis; Secretary-Susan Weyand; Tail Twister-Gary Russell; Directors-Gary Pior and David Smith; Membership Chair-Amy Bone; Marketing Chair-Stacie Brown.

Round Top Rifle Hall 

The Round Top Schuzen Verein Preservation members are holding a raffle as part of Round Top’s Fourth of July festivities. Tickets are available now for purchase at Round Top State Bank, Round Top Mercantile, or from a Rifle Association member. Only 1,500 tickets will be sold. The price is $20 per ticket or 3 for $50. The drawing will take place on July 4 at the hall.

RT 4th of July Parade 

If you wish to participate in the Round Top 4th of July parade, entry forms can be found online at

www.Round-TopRifle.com.

Entry forms must be completed and submitted by June 30. The parade begins and ends at the Rifle Association Hall on the morning of July 4.

The Town of Round Top 

In celebration of America 250, the Town of Round Top cordially invites all to “An Earlier Time: Images of Round Top.” This is an exhibition of the photography of Friederike Recknagel. The exhibition will be open at the Round Top Courthouse June 13 – July 13 and will be available for viewing every day from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Food Truck at Waldeck 

On June 20, the Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at Waldeck Lutheran Church. Area volunteers are asked to arrive by 9 a.m. to help sort and bag food. Food distribution will take place between 10-11 a.m.

Round Top American Legion 

The next meetings of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post #338 and Auxiliary will be held on Thurs., Aug. 6, at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Highway 237; Round Top, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The post will not hold a meeting on July 2 so that members can enjoy the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding and participate in local

celebrations being held on July 4.

Round Top Family Library 

Session 3 classes of the Round Top Family Library’s Kids’ Summer Enrichment and Education (S.E.E.) program begin June 22 and include Arts and Crafts (Kindergarten– 6th Grade), Fairytale STEM (4 and 5 year olds). Families interested in registering are encouraged to visit the library’s website for current availability and registration information.

A special children’s story time will be held on Wednesday, June 24, at 10:15 a.m. for a special children’s story time presented by Melanie Chrismer. Children and families are invited to enjoy stories, fun, and community at the library.

The Round Top Family Library is excited to participate in Round Top’s Fourth of July Parade with a float inspired by this year’s Kids’ S.E.E. theme: “Freedom Rocks and So Does Reading.” They are celebrating America’s semiquincentennial birthday, the power of literacy, and the spirit of our wonderful community.

Round Top Family Library offers free fitness classes five days a week. Classes are designed for all fitness levels, making it easy for beginners and experienced participants alike to join in. Class schedules and additional details can be found on the library’s online calendar at

All classes are free and open to the public.

Round Top Family Library will be closed on July 4 as staff and volunteers participate in community Independence Day celebrations.

RT Area Historical Society 

Every Saturday in June and July from 1-4 p.m., the Round Top Area Historical Society will open the doors of their Pavilion for a free public viewing of a wonderful historical photo exhibit of restored and enlarged images. The photos were originally taken by Gustav Froelich, Friederike Recknagel, and Robert Fulton Adams, who were photographers in the Round Top area between 1866 & the 1920s. The Pavilion is located at 397 E. Mill Street in Round Top (behind the Post Office.)

Bethlehem Lutheran Church 

Ruth Circle will not meet on July 2. Instead, Ruth Circle members are invited to attend the Martin Luther Lutheran Church Carmine Ladies Bible Study on July 9 at 2 p.m. in the M&M Building.
