Holy Cross Church Picnic Set for Sept. 6
Holy Cross Annual Church Picnic will be held on Sunday, Sept. 6 at the picnic grounds. They will be selling BBQ brisket, pork, fryers and sauce beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Ladies will be taking preorders for sides of beans, potato salad, coleslaw and noodles for $4 a pint. There is a signup sheet in the church Narthex for sides. Any pre-orders for sides need to be picked up by noon. Sides are also available the day of the picnic.
The Ladies Country Store will have lots of great home canned items for sale as well as desserts, plants and home crafted items. Children’s activities will begin at 11 a.m. The ladies will have a silent auction beginning at 11 a.m. Hamburgers, French fries and nachos will be available at 4 p.m. and the live auction will begin at 5:30 p.m.
The proceeds from the live auction will go towards the Parochial School Tuition Assistance Fund and to the picnic fund for future projects.
Come out and enjoy the live music of Mark Gruetzner from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and The Lost Cause Band from 2-5:30 p.m.
Donations for School Kits The ladies of Serbin LWML are collecting donations to make school kits for Orphan Grain Train. Items needed include spiral notebooks, pencils, pens, sheets of construction paper, 24 count crayons, ruler, glue sticks, scissors, rectangular erasers, 12-count colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, single pocket folders and cash to help cover cost of shipping, are also appreciated. Blazing Saddles Race Bluff Creek Ranch in Warda will host the Blazing Saddles all day race on Aug. 15.
Camp Lone Star Retreats Camp Lone Star will be hosting “Embark” Retreats on Sept. 18-20 and Oct. 2-4. These retreats are designed for 6th-8th grade students to grow together as a community, as well as connect with other churches from all around Texas. They will also be hosting a Father and Child Weekend Retreat on Sept. 4-6. To register for any of these retreats please visit their website at camplonestar.org.
Assorted Cards Sale
The Ladies at Holy Cross sell boxes of assorted cards for all occasions, they are only $7 a box and individual cards are $1. The cards are on display in the Narthex and may be purchased on Sunday mornings or stop by during the week when the church office is open.
Sewing Circle
The Sewing Circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m.noon in the old parish hall at Holy Cross in Warda. This is around the back side of the church. No experience is necessary and you do not have to be a church member to join this fun group. Contact the church office at (979) 242-3333 if you have any questions.
Game Day at Holy Cross
The next Game Day at Holy Cross in Warda will be held ThursdayAugust 20 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served. There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo and dominoes are offered.
Central Texas Food Truck
The Central Texas Food Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church on Saturday Aug. 15 from 10-11 a.m. Drive-thru only.
38th Annual Wendish Fest
Mark your calendars for the 38th Annual Wendish Fest to be held on Sunday, Sept. 27 in Serbin. Neighbors Night Out in Warda will be held on Sunday, Oct. 18 at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds. Faith Lutheran High School will be having their Annual Octoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 24. More details coming soon.

Holy Cross Services
Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Wednesday Bible Study
The Wednesday Morning Bible Study group meets each Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the family room of the church. They are currently studying the book of Galatians. Everyone is invited to join this study group.
Faith Lutheran High School Sunday, Aug. 16 the Ladies Aid will collect a door offering for school supplies for Faith Lutheran High School.
Sunday School Promotion Sunday will be held on Sunday Aug. 16.
FLHS will dismiss at 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26 for a staff meeting.
They will have their Annual Camp Lone Star Retreat on Aug. 27-28.
The school is now on the big screen. FLHS will have ads playing at the theater in Bastrop and Brenham before every movie.
