Woman Charged For Assault
On Sunday, Feb. 9, at approximately 7:55 p.m. Schulenburg Police Department Officers and Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 1200 block of South St. in Schulenburg for a subject being chased by a vehicle. The vehicles were located and stopped.Amale subject had fresh wounds to his arm which were consistent with having been stabbed. He claimed a woman had sprayed him with pepper spray and proceeded to stab him. The female admitted to both stabbing the male and spraying with him with pepper spray, but claimed it was in self defense after being tased.
After speaking with multiple subjects and attempting to speak with others who had been present, officers determined the female had initiated this incident and the taser was displayed, but never used.
Sheila Gaines (50), of Schulenburg, was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Sheila was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center where jail staff requested she be medically cleared due to complaints of multiple medical issues.
Gaines was transported to a nearby hospital for clearance, but refused to allow medical staff to assess her. Due to her documented refusal, Gaines was transported back to the Justice Center where she remains in custody.
