Warda Barn Burns
A barn burned to the ground in the Warda area Monday morning, Jan. 20.
Winchester Volunteer Fire Department got the call around 9:48 a.m. The caller said a barn in the 2300 block of Warda Church Rd. was fully engulfed in flames. The roof had already collapsed by the time the first firefighters arrived.
Winchester Fire Chief Eddie Schneider said the building was framed in wood and covered with metal.
“The fire had pretty well put itself out by the time we got there,” Schneider said.
Schneider said he did not know the cause of the fire. The barn was being used to store hay, he said. Firefighters pulled metal sheets away and recovered some of the hay.
Firefighters spent about two hours at the scene, Schneider said.
