Veterans Clinic Receives Donations from VFW Post No. 5254 Auxiliary

The Veterans Clinic in La Grange received donations on Friday, Sept. 19, from the Veterans Outreach Program that is sponsored by the VFW Auxiliary No. 5254 La Grange. Recent gifts to the program made the donations of acceptable clothing, toiletries, food items, backpacks, etc., possible.

The VFW Auxiliary No. 5254 is thankful to the following groups and persons who have generously remembered our local area Veterans.

TheAmerican Legion Post No. 143 of Schulenburg made a kind monetary donation for the Veterans Outreach Program.

Items were given in remembrance of family members who were Veterans. Becky Leer, who serves as the Chairman of the Veterans Outreach Program for the VFW Auxiliary No. 5254, and her husband Richard Leer donated in memory of his uncle, John Leer, from Keswick, Iowa, who passed away in March of this year. He served in the U.S. Army, was assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade, and served in Vietnam from September 1969 to September 1970 when he was severely injured. They also donated to the memory of Lawrince Heinrich, Becky’s uncle, who passed away on July 28 of this year. He was in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, 1953 to 1973, having served in Korea, Okinawa, Panama, and Vietnam.

Another kind monetary donation was made by Kathy Schenck, in memory of her beloved Father, Marine Lieutenant Paul Schenck, and to honor all those Veterans who have served, still serve, and those retired and continue to serve their neighbors, communities, towns, and cities all across this country.
