Vehicle, Carport Burn Near Smithville

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports Sunday evening around 7:56 p.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a Structure fire on Country Way Road near Bartons Creek Rd. near Smithville. The La Grange Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene with Deputies Jason Fowler, Duane Meagher and EMS Unit Medic 1. Upon arrival it was reported a metal carport garage with a vehicle inside was fully engulfed. The Smithville Fire Department also was notified and responded to the scene along with the La Grange Fire Department who arrived and the fire was quickly extinguished. The vehicle was a total loss and it was believed to be the cause of the fire.
