United Effort to Further Promote Polka Music and Dance

Two organizations—the Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum (PLCTM), located at 275 West Fairgrounds Road in La Grange, within the Fayette County Fairgrounds Czech Village, and the Texas Polka Music Museum (TPMM), formerly located at 712 Lyons Avenue in Schulenburg, Texas began to join forces in the fall of 2025 to enhance the preservation and promotion of the history and legacy of polka, waltz, and folk music brought to Texas by Czech, German, and Polish immigrants.

By December 31, 2025, the two organizations were officially merged as the Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum; and, as of January 1, 2026, two TPMM Board Members, Brian Svetlik and Glen Chervenka, were sworn in as new directors serving on the PLCTM Board of Directors. All previous TPMM donors, contributors, and supporters are invited to visit the Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum (PLCTM) in La Grange and join in the shared mission of preserving, promoting, and educating the world about polka music and dance. Today, the PLCTM vows to continue bringing the joy and rhythm of polka to generations of enthusiasts and “wanna be’s” from across the region and beyond. The museum stands as a vibrant tribute to Polka history, featuring an extensive collection of memorabilia, albums, bands, recordings, musical instruments, photographs, costumes, artifacts and historical archives that celebrate and honor polka music and dance traditions.

Looking ahead, this unified organization is embarking on an exciting new chapter. Due to the merger, the PLCTM is undergoing an expansion project to expand the interior annex to accommodate and incorporate the extensive collections described above, improve visitor safety with new sidewalks, construct an outdoor dance area, and implement advanced technology to promote polka music and dance to a global audience. Visitors can look forward to a richer, more comprehensive museum experience that combines the strengths of both institutions— ensuring the continued legacy of their founders and celebrating the vibrant spirit of global polka music and dance.
