Two Men Arrested on Burglary Charges
Schulenburg Police arrested two men on burglary charges after serving a search warrant in Hallettsville Saturday.
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek said the arrests stemmed from a pair of burglaries at Leon’s Electric and Plumbing in Schulenburg last month. The business reported several spools of copper tubing missing.
Brenek said police obtained information that the stolen copper was possibly located in Hallettsville. Sergeant Tobey McFadden and Officer Juan Castilleja of the Schulenburg Police Department executed a search warrant in the 600 block of W. Fairwinds St. in Hallettsville around 10 p.m. on March 5. Hallettsville Police and the Lavaca County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the search.
The officers located seven spools of copper tubing at the location, Brenek said. They arrested Eddie King and Taylor Johnson, both of Weimar, for burglary of a building. Brenek did not know the exact value of the copper, but he said it likely amounted to thousands of dollars.
“We were able to put all the pieces together,” Brenek said. “It was outstanding police work by Sgt. McFadden and Officer Castilleja with following through and making this happen.”
