Twenty Pounds of Meth Seized in Traffic Stop
Saturday, Fayette County Deputy Cody Williams conducted a traffic stop on I-10 near Flatonia. During the traffic stop, Deputy Williams requested consent to search the vehicle and Champion denied consent. Officer Byron Powe with the Schulenburg Police Department arrived on scene and deployed K9 Semper. who alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle. Deputy Williams conducted a probable-cause search of the vehicle and located a black trash bag behind the driver’s seat. Inside the bag were nine bundles containing over twenty pounds of methamphetamine. Arrested were 24 yr. old Roland Champion Jr. and 22 yr. old Emily Guadalupe Mendoza, both of San Antonio.
