Trial in Death of LG’s Worsham Set to Begin

The trail of the man charged with killing La Grange High School grad Emmett Worhsam is set to begin this week at the Hays County Courthouse.

According to information from the City of San Marcos, on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office arrested Milton Heyliger for Manslaughter following a San Marcos Police Department investigation into an assault that resulted in the death of Worsham, who was 24 at the time.

San Marcos Police responded to Red Room Social Lounge, 106 W Hopkins Street, at approximately 2:37 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021, for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers located Worsham unconscious in the roadway outside of the lounge.

An investigation determined Worsham was denied entry into Red Room Social Lounge, which lead to an argument between Worsham and an employee of the lounge, identified as Heyliger. During the argument Heyliger struck Worsham multiple times, causing him to fall from the elevated sidewalk and sustain injuries to his head.

Worsham was transported to Ascension Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle, where he died on Dec. 19, 2021.
