Traffic Stop Finds Drugs
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on June 26, at 9:58 p.m. Deputy C. Williams was on routine patrol in or about the 664-mile marker area of I-10 in Flatonia when he observed a silver Volvo commit a traffic violation.
Deputy Williams stopped the vehicle near the eastbound 664-mile marker. Deputy Williams made contact with the driver, Deion Devon Johnson, front seat passenger Romayle Terrell, and Bobby Ray Knocks. While speaking with all subjects, Deputy Williams asked Deion if he threw drugs from the vehicle because it appeared that something may have flown from the vehicle when the vehicle was coming to a stop. All subjects denied this occurring. However, Deputy Williams additionally alerted to the odor of marijuana. Deputy Williams observed something in a clear plastic baggie hidden behind McKay and requested that he show what it was. Mc-Kay handed the bag to Deputy Williams, and Deputy Williams observed what he knows to be crack cocaine in the baggie. Deputy Williams asked McCay what it was, and he, too, admitted that it was crack cocaine. Due to McKay’s physical condition and current jail housing deficiencies, a summons for Mckay will be issued at a later date for possession (2nd Degree Felony).
