A Tradition Like No Other – 175 Years of July 4ths in Round Top

This year will mark the amazing 175th annual Round Top 4th of July celebration, which is considered the longest running continuous Independence Day celebration West of the Mississippi. This year’s festivities will begin on the town square at 10 a.m. and then the shooting of the cannon will start the parade at 10:30 a.m. This postcard image shows the 114th Round Top Independence Day parade back in 1964. Precinct courthouse and other buildings can be seen in the background. More about the celebration and its history on Page B2 today.
