Thefts Reported in Muldoon Area

Thefts Reported in Muldoon Area

It appears that the Muldoon area has a problem with thieves again. This time they hit several places along Old Smithville Road. They broke into a place and rummaged through, taking odds, ends and miscellaneous items. They also cut the fence to follow an electric line to an abandoned oil field pad, apparently looking to find a barn to ransack.

There also have been reports of landowners finding their lock gates “marked,” so someone could easily see if the place was being checked on. Others have seen unauthorized vehicles on their property during the day. These thieves have moved in and have apparently been scouting the area.

Please be aware of your surroundings and make note of any strange vehicles you see driving slowly or seeming to be checking out the area. Make notes of the make, model, and color of the vehicle, and then call the sheriff’s office about the out of the ordinary activity. If you see something at your neighbors’ place or a gate is open that should not be, call them and double check they know what’s going on at their place.

We all need to pull together in a strong neighborhood watch to keep the Muldoon area safe. Call on your neighbor. Stop by and just say “Hi.” It is through strong community bonds that the area stays safe.

Travels to Israel

In February, Pam Sheffield and Lanell Kolb had the privilege of visiting Israel for seventeen days. The trip had been originally planned for 2020, but due to COVID the trip was canceled. A group of sixteen including Pastor John Turner and his wife Roxie enjoyed a long awaited trip to the Promised Land. Father’s House Educational Foundation, out of Glen Rose organized the trip.

Pam and Lanell enjoyed their first hotel stay next to the Sea of Galilee, in Tiberius. They, along with three other ladies, were baptized in the Sea. Their adventures included seeing the Mediterranean, floating in the Dead Sea and collection rocks at the Red Sea. Along the way they were able to visit places where Jesus walked and taught in the synagogues. The final week was spent in the area of Bethlehem. They visited the places where Jesus was born, crucified and resurrected. They walked beside the Garden of Gethsemane and sang in St Anne’s Church in Jerusalem. Along the highways they sometimes spotted shepherds herding their sheep. One special time was when Pam and Lanell, along with their group, visited the Western Wall to say prayers for their loved ones. Their picture was taken from the Temple Mount and behind them was the Mount of Olives.

The final two days allowed them a chance to visit the Holocaust Museum and visit the area where David killed Goliath. It was an amazing trip and these two ladies were thankful to be able to finally make this trip that had been a life long dream.

Out and About

Kathy and Frank Chlumsky traveled to Austin for a birthday celebration for youngest daughter, Summer Smith. They got to enjoy birthday brownies and some find time with the grandkids, Olivia and Marcus.

Ron Knotts is recovering from some minor surgery and has used this down time for time to spend in the woodshop. He is designing some furniture pieces and working on a plant stand for the front porch. He has just recently finished a memorial cross to honor Colby Craig, a Flatonia student killed several years ago in an accident on FM 609. Colby’s mom, Lisa Craig, and her family recently installed the cross near the site of the accident.
