Telecommunicators Week Proclaimed
Each year the second full week of April is recognized as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week to honor the dedicated men and women who answer 911 calls on a daily basis and who are the true backbone of the 911 system nationwide.
Fayette County will recognize April 10-16 as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week to especially honor the telecommunicators of Fayette County who answer 911 calls for help in emergency situations and who serve as the critical link between the callers and the emergency response agencies who arrive on the scene.
The Fayette County Communications Office located at the Dan R. Beck Justice Center handled over 19,000 emergency and non-emergency 911 calls last year.
Nine Communications Officers currently serve Fayette County: Emergency Communication Officer (ECO) Supervisor Kim Haba (23 years of service), ECO Lisa Blaha (13 years of service), ECO Renee Moreland (9 years of service), ECO Christine Rognerud (2 years of service), ECO Jennifer DeDear (2 years of service), ECO Sonya Lehmann (1 year of service), Jackie Moree, (9 months of service), Terrell Klimek, (7 months of service), and Samuel Velasquez (5 months of service).
