Sweet Tea & Scripture: Ladies’ Bible Study Every Thursday in Muldoon

Happening on Thursday nights at Stray Gathering Ciwboy Church is the Ladies’ Bible Study, “Sweet Tea and Scripture.” Each week the ladies meet to discuss scripture, maybe do a craft and enjoy some fellowship with other Christian ladies. If you are interested in joining, come on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. for a relaxing evening learning more about God’s word.

Plans are fully underway for the Fall Round Up at the Stray Gathering Cowboy Church. In just a few weeks on Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. the fun will begin with all kinds of games for kids and adults alike. Bring your kids. Bring your grandkids or just bring yourself. Loads of fun are being planned. There will be a dessert wheel, where you spin for the chance to win some homemade goodies; a 50/50 Raffle; a fun photo booth along with music and a bounce house. BBQ plates will be available for $12 to keep everyone fed. Then at 1 p.m. the live auction will begin. A fun time is sure to be had, so plan to come out and enjoy the fall weather with the kids. Then to top the day off there will be pulling of the winning ticket for the Hereford cross heifer. Tickets are still available for $20 each. If you would like to help out with donations of auction items or maybe with helping somewhere with the Round Up, please contact Lee at (512) 629-2114 or Pat at (512) 332-6396. They will be more than happy to help collect your donations. All the funds made at this year’s Round Up will be used to offset the expenses of the land purchase and the building of the new faculties.

Another outreach for SG2C is Cowboys 4 Heroes at Fort Hood. Oct. 18 Tim Spice will be taking his chuck wagon to help feed military families at Fort Hood. If you would like to get involved contact Tim at (512) 423-2602. This is a way to give back and get to know the SG2C as they go and cook, serve and minister to these real-life heroes.

Rain in Area

The first Sunday in September saw the Muldoon area getting a little bit of rain. Reports of about a half inch was welcomed to try and add some moisture into the ground. Things are still on the dry side, but this was a nice little bit of moisture for the pastures, but not enough to fill any of the ponds. Mornings have once again started to cool off and be very pleasant. Fall might be in the air.

Out and About

Pam Sheffield entertained three of her friends recently at her home in Muldoon. Darlyn Robison, Jenni Ferreira and Debbie Joutraw drove in from Houston on Friday night for a girls’ weekend. On Saturday they started out strong with shopping at Rhinestone Angel beforehavingburgersatTrump Burger in Flatonia. They wandered down the street and found a few treasures shopping at the Checkered Dog Antique store. Pam took her friends to the Painted Church in Praha and then to the Busy B in La Grange. They had a lot of fun laughing, watching funny TV shows, and catching up on their families.

Over the Labor Day weekend Ron and Pam Knotts had a chance to visit with Pam’s brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Christy Langenberg at the family homestead near Hallettsville. Christy had asked Ron to come out and fix some electrical issues in the guest house so Ron and Pam picked up Joel’s Barbecue for lunch for the group. Ron and Pam were excited to see what Christy has been working on to furnish the house. She has found some simple period furniture that will make it the perfect comfortable weekend retreat.

Nancie Blair slipped off to Katy for a birthday party for her great nephews, Bodie and Hunter Lang. It was a fun party and a great time for catching up with both sides of the family of the boys. Nancie loved hearing about how all the things went with baseball and how the football season is going for them.
