Swarm of Bees Attacks Local Officers After They Respond to Pursuit/Wreck

On Wednesday Fayette County Deputy Joe Gonzales attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2010 Jeep Cherokee on FM 609 near I-10 for a traffic violation.

The vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit of the vehicle went into the City of Flatonia, down several streets, and returning into the County on FM 609 northbound before turning on Stryk Rd.

Several Units continued behind the suspect’s vehicle which refused to stop. The pursuit turned on S. Knesek Rd. and wrecked into some trees.

As law enforcement approached the vehicle, a swarm of bees was observed around the vehicle and they stung officers. Law Enforcement called for EMS and the Flatonia Fire Department to respond to the scene. Assisting at the scene were Deputies Herman Olvera, Noah Geer, A.B Marroquin, Sgt. Ron Naumann, Flatonia Police Chief Lee Dick, Flatonia Officer Tunis, Flatonia Fire Department, and Fayette County EMS Medic Unit 4, EMS Supervisors 2 & 3.

The 31-year-old suspect was identified as Bradley Langhamer of La Grange. Once removed from the vehicle he was transported to the Columbus Community Hospital.

He was transferred to a Life Flight Helicopter and transported to Memorial Herman Hospital in the Medical Center for injuries obtained in the accident.

Charges are being filed against him with the County Attorney’s Office.
