Stargazing Event Set at Lake Fayette
Lake Fayette’s Park Prairie Park invites the community to experience the wonders of the night sky at “Night Watch: Stargazing at Lake Fayette” on Saturday, September 20, from 8-11 p.m.
This special evening was chosen to coincide with a new moon, ensuring the darkest skies for optimal stargazing— weather permitting. Guests are encouraged to bring their own telescopes, binoculars, or simply a blanket to relax and enjoy the celestial show. For those looking to enhance their experience, download any number of free smartphone apps available to help identify constellations, planets, and other celestial bodies.
Admission is just $4 per person, and children 12 and under are free. For those who wish to extend their night under the stars, campsites and cabins are available starting at only $33 per night. This event marks the first community program organized by Kevin White, the new General Manager overseeing both Park Prairie and Oak Thicket Parks. White, who stepped into the role on August 18, brings a strong background in community engagement and event development, having worked with local nonprofit organizations such as Arts for Rural Texas and the Rural Nonprofit Networking Group.
“This is just the beginning,” says White. “We want Lake Fayette parks to be a destination for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking to connect with the outdoors. Expect more exciting events in the future.”
