St. Barnabas Church’s Feast Day Picnic Slated June 22
On Sunday, June 22, the members of the Reformed Episcopal mission parish of St Barnabas’s Anglican Church, 237 West Austin Street, Bellville, will observe (transferred from the actual day for honouring Barnabas, June 11) their annual picnic on the grounds after their weekly service of Holy Communion.
This year, as was done last year, the members have invited the members of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, Bellville, to join them for the meal, to be held starting at about 11:30 a.m. after both churches have concluded their formal services of worship. For the past several summers, these two local churches have shared the distribution of backpacks with school supplies to first graders in BISD of families in financial need, this sharing done in conjunction with many of Bellville’s other churches together (covering all of the grades) at Bellville Methodist Church.
The meat will be provided by the junior waraden, the side dishes and deserts by others of the parish. Visitors need bring only their appetites and a desire to enjoy fellowship with Christian brethren and sisters. It was heartily agreed last year that the two churches need to do more things together. To accommodate such a large gathering as was held last year, the junior warden of the parish has secured a larger tent for keeping folk out of the summer’s sun. All are invited, also, to observe the parish’s new, partially finished parish hall, to be dedicated in July when the Bishop comes for Confirmations and Receptions.
