Spirit of MLK Honored With March Through Downtown La Grange

The La Grange Juneteenth Committee hosted a Unity in the Community celebration in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the Courthouse Square in La Grange Saturday afternoon.

The event started with a MLK March that started at the Fayette Public Library and ended at the courthouse.

A short program took place on the Courthouse steps at the conclusion of the march.

La Grange Mayor Jan Dockery gave a speech and read a proclamation she signed in recognition of MLK Day. Debra Steward provided a music performance.

Juneteenth Committee President Walter Culberson recognized the event sponsors, Burkland Auto Bahrn, Kleiber Tractor and Equipment and OviedoAuto Group. Several food vendors were on site.

Following the program, a community block party and domino tournament took place in the afternoon.
