Some Familiar Faces, Names Return to LGISD This School Year

With the start of school looming, Monday’s La Grange school board meeting included a slew of personnel moves, including the return of some familiar faces and names.

Retirees Sherry Schmidt and Janna McHazlett are returning in a part-time capacity and Erin Oppermann, daughter of former music teacher Catherine Oppermann, was approved as the new elementary music teacher.

New staff hires for LGISD for the 2025-26 school year were: Kate Eilers – elementary school teacher (2nd); Ted Ferritti – elementary school teacher (PE)/head softball coach; Janna McHazlett – part time elementary school teacher (6th reading lab); Sherry Schmidt – part time elementary school teacher (4th ELAR).

Transfers include: Keith Cripps – from middle school educational aide to high school teacher(speech/health); Katey Crowley – from elementary school teacher (instructional specialist) to elementary school teacher (2nd); Kelly Haas – from elementary school teacher (3rd) to high school teacher (ag); Maria “Ma” Lopez Lugo – from elementary school teacher (bilingual 3rd/4th) to elementary school teacher (bilingual 1st); Brooke McNaney – from full time counselor to part time elementary school teacher (4th)/part time elementary school counselor; Allison Mensching – from elementary school educational aide to elementary school teacher (3rd); Erin Oppermann – from elementary educational aide to elementary school teacher (music); Shelley Stark – from high school teacher/long term sub (PE, PFL, Lifetime Rec & Outdoor, Lifetime Fitness & Wellness) to high school teacher (business).

Paraprofessional hires include: Freddy Dobbins – part time bus operator; Connor Slaten – grounds maintenance.

Resignations include: Natalie Fellers – elementary school teacher (music); Karissa Kleiber – elementary school teacher (instructional specialist/6th reading lab); Reagan Grabarkewitz – middle school educational aide; Betty Pizzitola – elementary school educational aide.
