Smith McMillan DAR Chapter Donates to Four Local Libraries

‘Tis the season to be merry— and the staff of Fayette County’s four public libraries and the members of the local Smith-McMillan Chapter, Daughters of the Revolution, certainly are. On Dec. 11, thanks to a NSDAR Stars and Stripes America 250 Celebration Grant, the Smith-McMillan Chapter was able to “play Santa” and purchase 32 books to be distributed in county public libraries for patrons of all ages to enjoy.

The grant monies were set aside by the Wright Administration of the NSDAR to celebrate America’s founding and the men and women who achieved American independence. In the year 2026, our country will be 250 years old.

These award-winning books make reading about our country’s beginnings fun and fascinating. All the books mentioned below are available in hardcover or e-book format at Fayette County’s Community libraries, Round Top Family Library, Fayette Public Library (La Grange), Schulenburg Public Library and Flatonia Public Library.
