Sheriff’s Office Reports Grass, Structure Fire
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Sunday afternoon, March 20, the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a grass fire on FM 1291 N. near Roznov Rd. in the Fayetteville area.
The Fayetteville Fire Department responded to the scene and upon arrival a grass fire had spread around a pond and into a wooded area nearby. The Fayetteville VFD responded to the scene and requested mutual aid from the Ellinger and Round Top-Warrenton Fire Departments who responded and the fire was contained and extinguished. The cause of the fire was coals from a barbecue pit.
On Tuesday night, March 22, at around 9:45 p.m. a 911 call reporting a structure fire on Owl Creek Rd. off US Hwy. 77 in the Warda area was reported. The La Grange Volunteer Fire Department was notified and responded along with Deputy Jared Michalec and EMS unit Medic 1. Upon arrival a metal building was fuly engulfed and assistance was requested from the Winchester Area Volunteer Fire Department who also responded. The fire was extinguised and the cause is undetermined.
