Shelter Updates Hours of Operation

The Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter (GJAS) hours of operation are as follows: open 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for all normal operations. Closed Monday to the public with staff onsite for animal care from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Reclaims allowed on Monday after 10 a.m. If you believe your lost pet may be in care, call (979) 966-0021 to confirm and learn requirements for reclaim.

As of Sept. 12, the total intake for the shelter is 1314: 537 dogs and 777 cats in need. There are 144 animals in care: 57 dogs and 87 cats.

The shelter is in desperate need for more dog walkers, kitten cuddlers, laundry washers, and puppy bathers. You won’t regret volunteering.
