Shelter Update

As of May 30, the total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter in 2025 is 735: 337 dogs and 398 cats in need. There are 169 animals in care: 74 dogs and 95 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to a rescue partner.

The shelter offers a discount voucher program to the citizens of Fayette County for the spay or neuter of family pets and a microchip special for Fayette County pets. A microchip increases the chances of being reunited with your pet by 73%. Call (979) 9660021 for more information.
