Shelter Update

As of Dec. 20, the total intake for 2024 for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 1,644: 736 dogs and 908 cats in need.

As of Dec. 20, the shelter has 90 animals in care: 60 dogs/30 cats. For 2024, the shelter continued to average 32 animals incoming each week. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

The animal shelter offers a discount voucher program to the citizens of Fayette County for the spay/neuter of family pets. Call (979) 966-0021 for more information.
