Shelter Adopts 14 Animals Last Week

As of Jan. 28, the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter (GJAS) closed the week with 108 animals care: 58 cats/48 dogs. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

Humane Euthanasia: 0

Every day the animal shelter strives to provide the care and love all animals. The shelter builds its practices, protocols, and daily routines based on the gold-standard in animal welfare.

The Five Freedoms: Freedom from Hunger and Thirst: ready access to fresh water and a diet that maintains health and vigor;

Freedom from Discomfort: by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area;

Freedom from Pain, Injury or Disease: by prevention of, or rapid diagnosis and treatment;

Freedom to Express Normal Behavior: by providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal’s own kind as required;

Freedom from Fear and Distress: by ensuring conditions and treatment that avoids mental and emotional suffering.
