Several School and City Races Decided Around Fayette County

Municipal and school board elections took place on Saturday, May 3. The results listed below are unofficial until the governing bodies canvass the voting totals.

Schulenburg

In Schulenburg, Mayor Connie Koopmann won reelection against challenger Michael “5-0” Ohnheiser by a vote of 158-82. Council members Greg Thomas and Frank Wick III were unopposed.

Flatonia The City of Flatonia held an at-large election for three seats on the City Council. Ginny Sears (incumbent), Kevin Laney and Jeff Brazill were the winners. The vote totals were as follows: Ginny Sears - 114 Joanye Eversole - 84 Kevin Laney - 92 Jeff Brazill - 135 Alexander Hernandez - 50 Annie Pryor - 10

Round Top

The Town of Round Top held an at-large election between four candidates for three spots on the Town Council. The winners were Jeanette Burger (incumbent) with 34 votes, Melody Nagel with 34 votes, and Karen Duddlesten (incumbent) with 23 votes. Barry Bone collected 22 votes, just barely missing out.

SISD

In the Schulenburg School Board election, incumbents Joel “Boone” Blansitt and Shannon Hollas won reelection with 267 and 245 votes respectively. The two challengers in the at-large election were Stephanie Prihoda, who collected 202 votes, and Lisa Goodlander, who collected 163 votes.

RTCISD

Round Top-Carmine ISD held a special election to fill an unexpired term. Kyle Fricke defeated Bryan Kirts by a vote of 278-91.
