Seven Kilos of Cocaine Seized
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Friday afternoon Aug. 29, around 11:17 a.m. Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith conducted a traffic stop on a 2018 Honda Van on I-10 E/B near Engle for a traffic violation. Upon contact with the driver Smith observed the driver with conflicting travel patterns and a consent to search was denied and Schulenburg Police K-9 Officer Byron Powe and his canine “Semper” were called to assist at the scene. Located in the vehicle were seven kilograms of cocaine with a street value of $245,000. Arrested was 29-year-old Daniel Lugo of Houston who was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
