Join Monday, Jan, 27 in Schulenburg from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. for a special Lunch and Learn Session: Senior Story Time with Schulenburg High School seniors.
The festivities will kick off at 9 a.m. at the Schulenburg Center with coffee, dominoes, and conversation. Enjoy a delicious homemade lunch featuring chili and cornbread, followed by a dessert generously prepared by one of our talented members.
After lunch, we’re thrilled to welcome Schulenburg High School seniors, who will join members for a special “Senior Story Time” session. The high school students will work with our seniors to record their life stories, preserving precious memories and experiences for future generations. This unique, intergenerational activity will allow our members to pass down their histories, traditions, and valuable life lessons, while students will gain insights into the rich life experiences of our seniors. This heartwarming collaboration helps build connections between generations, creating lasting memories.
Following the storytelling session, Lindsay Gutierrez from Schulenburg Regency Home Health will lead us into a spirited round of Bingo to wrap up the day.
On Tuesday, Jan. 28, join us at the Flatonia Methodist Church from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. for a fun-filled day. Start the day with dominoes, cards, and puzzles, followed by a hearty homemade chicken casserole, cornbread, salad, and dessert provided by one of our members.
During the Lunch and Learn session, Dana Platt with CARTS for Rural Texas will share valuable information about transportation services for seniors in our area. Afterward, we’ll wrap up the day with a fun round of bingo, called by Lindsay Gutierrez of Schulenburg Regency Home Health.
We’ll be back in Schulenburg on Wednesday, Jan. 29 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. with a special catered meal from Oakridge Smokehouse. Enjoy their famous fried fish, hush puppies, cole slaw, and mac and cheese. After lunch, we’ll host a lively round of bingo, called by Deannie Crim of Schulenburg Fitness, a fan-favorite among our participants.
The week will wrap up with Artful Fridays on Friday, Jan. 31, a program designed for those who love to explore their creative side. Join us at Arts for Rural Texas, located at 1206 South Lyons Avenue, from 10 a.m. - noon. Under the guidance of artist Sue Pape, participants will learn innovative painting techniques, including creating acrylic skins and collages. A delicious lunch will be served at the end of the session, making it a fun-filled day of creativity and camaraderie.
