Senior Connections Thanksgiving Meal Nov. 20
It will be a very festive week at Senior Connections. We will get to celebrate together as one big family next week. Senior Connections will be closed for the last week of November so staff and volunteers can spend time with their loved ones.
Our schedule is the same at all campuses, whether at our home base of Schulenburg in Wolters Park at 1111 Bohlmann Ave., at the Flatonia Methodist Church on the second and fourth Tuesdays, or the First United Methodist Church in Weimar on the first and third Tuesdays. Doors open at 9 a.m. and there is always something going on until 2 p.m. Drop in any time.
On Monday, Nov. 18, in Schulenburg, we will enjoy something we have not had for a while. Connie Koopmann Catering will be providing a pork roast and Senior Connections volunteers will complete the meal with mixed vegetables, spinach salad, and a dessert. Hometown Pharmacy, will be coming to share some ways to ease our aches and pains. I want to see what kind of tools and supplements they will share. I will also bring a few from home to show the members. If you have a particular trick/stretch, exercise, or massage tool you would recommend, bring it so we can all learn from each other.
We will have bingo following the Lunch and Learn program. Elizabeth Mars with Shady Oak Nursing Home in Moulton will come to make that happen.
Weimar is the satellite campus for Tuesday, Nov. 19. First United Methodist Church welcomes us. Our home-cooked meal will take us on a Mediterranean trip with lasagna, a Greek salad, garlic bread, and a member’s dessert. Anne Frye with Texas Home Health Services will be in the house for our bingo game.
Wednesday, Nov. 20 is our big day. We are expecting about 100 people to join us at the KC Hall for our day full of Thanksgiving. We will be ready for you at 9 a.m. with coffee and treats and all your favorites, dominoes and card games to play. The hall, decorated by a wonderful team of ladies including Cynthia Trojacek, Stefni Kueht, and Martha Beckman is sure to get you in the spirit of the holidays. There will be many surprises through out the day that you do not want to miss.
The third grade class from St. Rose Catholic School will come entertain us at 11 a.m. Our holiday meal will be served at 11:30 a.m. Crown Hospice will join us for an hour. A collection of handmade items by Martha Beckmann and Stephanie Shroyer will be raffled off to someone lucky after our bingo game. Proceeds of the raffle go to Senior Connections.
We hope your holiday season is filled with family and friends and you make beautiful memories. Please join us at any location, membership is free.
