Senior Connections La Grange Location to Open Aug. 5
We are so excited to set the date for opening our third satellite location for Senior Connections. This satellite location will be in La Grange, held on Wednesdays, and will open on the Aug. 5 with the same schedule as all locations, doors open from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m and will include a nutritious home-cooked meal after a morning of fun board games, hot coffee, and camaraderie.
Members will enjoy a short, informative educational Lunch and Learn program, and end the day with bingo. If you are interested in joining, keep an eye out; we will be announcing the location of this exciting program next week. Membership is free, and all we need is a one-page membership form for you to complete.
If you would like to be involved by volunteering to serve coffee, help prepare and serve meals, and clean up, or if you would be interested in calling our bingo game or talking about your business or senior related issues, get in touch with Denise Roberts at (832) 641-8733.

I want to remind all our members to sign up for our Summertime Ice Cream Social and Indoor Picnic at the KC Hall in Schulenburg on July 29. Still the same schedule, still the same games in the morning, hamburgers and all the summer sides for lunch, and Coke or Root Beer floats will quench our sweet tooth. Music by Vic Rodriguez will finish out the day. We need everyone planning to come to sign up so we can prepare the right amount of food. And if you find that you have signed up and cannot come, let us know so we can edit the list. There will be door prizes for everyone, giving everyone a chance to win.
Join Senior Connections on Monday, July 20, we kick off the week in Schulenburg at 1111 Bohlmann Avenue in Wolters Park. Be sure to check out the newly refinished parking lot. Today’s meal will feature chicken fajitas from Oakridge Smokehouse, and our amazing volunteers will prepare the rice and beans, along with all the fixings, to make it a perfect meal. Members will be bringing the desserts. You can add your name to the schedule to bring a dessert and share your baking skills or you can run down to the bakery or the grocery store and pick something up.
For our Lunch and Learn program, we have rescheduled Tami Walker, Schulenburg City Manager. We know members were disappointed when she could not make the previously scheduled presentation, but she will be here this time. And then we have Amanda with Anytime Fitness coming at 12:30 p.m. to call our bingo game.
On Tuesday, July 21, you’ll find us in Weimer at the First United Methodist Church at 301 W. Saint Charles St. for the day. Amanda’s amazing lasagna is on the menu for today, and of course, we will have mouth-watering garlic bread and our famous house salad. Members will bring the desserts.
Jimmy Hegar with Edward Jones will be the Lunch and Learn speaker, and then LaBrittany with True Care Living Center in Columbus will join for the bingo game.
On Wednesday, July 22, we return to Wolters Park in Schulenburg for our busiest day of the week. Make sure you get there early for a cool drink and a good seat, because the house does get packed. Our menu stars chicken spaghetti from Connie Koopmann catering. We will have garlic bread, our house salad, and dessert brought by the members, of course. We go straight into bingo on Wednesdays, and Kim Brown from Schulenburg Family Fitness will be in the house. Jennifer Dial or Reagan will join her, and you know it’s gonna be a fun day if Kim is in the house.
On Friday, July 24, Artful Friday will be held at Senior Connections in Wolters Park from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., featuring watercolor techniques by Claire Lewis and wool/ needle-felting with Bonny Karstedt. We will enjoy a light meal together following class and continue with our open studio for members to finish projects for our upcoming art show, Ageless Artistry, in September.
There is something for everybody at Senior Connections, from hot coffee and conversation, competitive games, puzzle building, delicious home-cooked meals, interesting programs, and bingo. The art classes are enriching, and so are our adventures. They give members a chance to bond in a whole new way.
